Description

The Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study 1993, Third Follow-Up 2003 (B&B:93/03) is part of the Baccalaureate and Beyond Longitudinal Study (B&B) program. B&B:93/03 (https://nces.ed.gov/surveys/b&b/) is the third follow-up of a longitudinal study that followed a cohort of graduating college seniors who participated in the 1993 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:93). The 1993 National Postsecondary Student Aid Study (NPSAS:93) data provided the base-year sample for B&B:93. NPSAS:93 data are representative of all undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in postsecondary institutions in the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico that were eligible to participate in the federal financial aid programs in Title IV of the Higher Education Act, and the B&B cohort is a representative sample of graduating seniors in all majors. The key statistics produced from B&B:93/03 are long term information on graduates’ additional postsecondary education and training, employment, workforce activities, and other life experiences. The study directed special focus on the sample members who began teaching.

Detailed Methodology

Sample

Sample 10,440; The B&B:93/03 sample design had multiple stages. The first two stages occurred within the NPSAS:1993 sample: a sample of NPSAS-eligible institutions and a sample of students within institutions. The third stage was B&B:93/94 specific and provided subsamples from confirmed and potential baccalaureate recipients identified during the second stage of the NPSAS:1993 sample. The fourth stage was for B&B:93/97 and consisted of all B&B:93/94 respondents and eligible base-year nonrespondents. The B&B:93/03 sample consists of all eligible B&B:93/97 respondents and a subsample of B&B:93/97 nonrespondents.
