BOC Master Address File Auxiliary Reference File (MAFARF)
Add to My BasketDescription
The Master Address File Auxiliary Reference File (MAF-ARF) is a Census Bureau file that contains a Master Address File Identifier (MAFID) and a protected identification key (PIK). The MAFID is drawn from the MAF. The PIK is a resulting field from the validation of a record Social Security Number (SSN). At the completion of the PVS validation process, the SSN is replaced with PIK as a form of anonymization of the record.
Detailed Methodology
Master Address Auxiliary Reference File is created once annually by Economic Reimbursable Surveys Division (ERD) and delivered to the Center for Economic Studies (CES) datawarehouse. The extract contains MAFID, PIK, and state. Multiple sources go into creating this file. MAF is maintained via ingest and processing of other address data sources primarily the US Postal Service's Delivery Sequence File, but also tribal, state, and local government address lists, as well as through field work.
