Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) Employer-level Files
Add to My BasketDescription
The Longitudinal Employer-Household Dynamics (LEHD) data at the U.S. Census Bureau is a quarterly database of linked employer-employee data covering over 95% of employment in the United States. The LEHD data are generated by merging previously collected survey and administrative data on jobs, businesses, and workers. Data are derived from various Federal sources as well as state data voluntarily provided through the Local Employment Dynamics (LED) partnership. The Employer-level data provides establishment characteristics including geography, industry, ownership, and establishment size. Establishments are components of a statewide employer (SEIN), which can be linked to job-level earnings data. Various measures of employment dynamics and earnings, such as accessions, separations, and job flows, are also provided at the establishment level. These measures serve as the microdata for the public use Quarterly Workforce Indicators (QWI). The employer data package also includes the Successor-Predecessor File (SPF), which provides information on employer identifier changes that may result from various administrative events.
